Things To See
The Church of St. Michael's and All Angels welcome visitors. The Church dates back to Saxon times and is crammed with history, being part of the infamous Cartmel Diocese. Cartmel Priory is well worth a visit. Try the Cartmel Sticky Toffee Pudding, and then try our Sandra's. We think Sandra's is better!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Leighton Moss RSPB reserve and Leighton Hall are located 3 miles South, just off the A6 and Sizergh Castle is 10 minutes drive North on the A6. Levens Hall is 5 minutes away on the way to Kendal. Lake Windermere and the town Bowness are also just a 20 minute drive away. So much to do - stay for a week - discounted rates available.
Beetham paper and corn mill, located on the River Bela is only a two minute walk from the Wheatsheaf - turn left out of the main door and where the road forks at the end, bear left - the mill is 300mtrs ahead - the museum is very informative.
For a short half hour walk to stretch your legs, go to the 'Fairy Steps'. Turn right outside the main door, up the hill and follow the signs. You will take the route which lead the sailors to deliver goods to Beetham mill and coffins to the Church next door - from landings at Arnside and Morcambe Bay. You'll also pass pheasant hatcheries where thousands of pheasants are hatched for the annual shoots in October and November.
Lake District
Located only fifteen minutes from the Lake District, Beetham offers the perfect location for any walking, cycling or fishing break.
